Music
Brent Calderwood moonlights as a songwriter, singer, and musician, performing both solo and with fellow musicians at music venues in Portland, Oregon. He has received a fellowship from Blue Bear School of Music in San Francisco and has attended songwriting workshops with Beth Nielsen Chapman, Mary Gauthier, John Gorka, Eliza Gilkyson, Julie Gold, and others. His essays on songwriting appear in Rolling Stone and the anthology Gathered Light: The Poetry of Joni Mitchell’s Songs. He has interviewed and profiled musicians including David Amram, Holly Near, Mary Lambert, and Justin Vivian Bond.
